[Q] How does temperature effect the signal quality of CAT 5 Cable?
[A] Different raw materials will react differently under extreme
conditions, but signal performance will be generally unaffected
by cold or heat. Keep in mind, this is a general statement,
and in no way refers to temperature exposures that fall outside
the maximum operating tolerances of the cable.
The
copper core (conductor) of the CAT 5 Cable has a wide tolerance
for performance under extremes in temperature. Most material
failures can be linked to the PVC jacketing of the pairs or
outer covering, rather than the copper itself.
CAT
5 Cable can easily be installed in protective conduit or other
materials if the risk of extreme exposure is high.
